Small towns, main streets, and farms across our region and country are vital to community identity. We believe that protecting old buildings and landscapes builds a strong sense of community, brings different generations together, and encourages a better future for everyone.
MY RURAL HERITAGE IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO PRESERVING AND RECOVERING ARCHITECTURAL AND CULTURAL HERITAGE.
We live in the Midwest, where many small towns began in the 19th century. The buildings are made of stone, brick, wood, and metal. You can find small churches, craftsman houses, and old barns throughout the area.
Rural historic places – cemeteries, vernacular buildings, and cultural landscapes – are often lost without documentation and protection. These places hold the history of communities.

My Rural Heritage is dedicated to preserving and rehabilitating the architectural and cultural heritage, especially of small towns and rural communities.
We do this by researching and developing architectural projects, planning community spaces, educating about cultural history, and promoting discussions that bring together various fields of expertise.
